Tracerco, part of the FTSE 100 Johnson Matthey Plc, are expanding their reservoir tracing services in the Middle East with a move to larger premises in Oman and a new purpose built lab in Abu Dhabi adding to the existing operational base. These will add to Tracerco’s worldwide network of laboratories which allows them to provide rapid, local analysis and quick turn-around of results for their extensive reservoir customer base.

The new Oman building is situated in an up and coming industrial area of Muscat called Al Jufneen, which is earmarked for future investment and development by the local authorities. The move to the new facility came as a result of increased customer demand for Tracerco’s oilfield characterisation tracer technology and will primarily cater for Tracerco’s reservoir business within the Sultanate. The facility consists of laboratories, offices, warehousing and store.
In Abu Dhabi, Tracerco has responded to a rapid growth in their reservoir customer base by adding a new laboratory to their existing operational base. The Laboratory will allow Tracerco to analyse over 1,000 samples per month creating 3 new jobs and providing a local base for the region, therefore decreasing turn-around times for results analysis.

Tracerco offers expertise in Reservoir tracer technology across many platforms and has been investing in chemical tracer research and development for over 25 years resulting in the cutting edge product range they have today. The technologies can be deployed without interruption to production and allow operators to gain a better understanding of reservoir fluid and gas movements throughout their reservoir assets.

Paul Hewitt, Director of Reservoir Tracing Services, of Tracerco said:

“Tracerco are committed to growing their reservoir business having first developed specialised tracers for oil and gas over 25 years’ ago. With continued development and refinement over this period from our dedicated R&D team of over ten PhDs and 40 chemistry professionals, Tracerco’s cutting edge tracers designed to determine fluid flow in oil and gas reservoirs are recognised by oil companies worldwide as an essential addition to their reservoir surveillance toolkit.”

Tracerco’s technology is used extensively by operators in oil and gas reservoirs to increase their accuracy in a range of well designs and field developments. This year has seen record growth of the company’s reservoir business as oil companies pursue ever more ambitious improved oil recovery programmes.
