Transpetro inaugurated on Friday (7/5) a new section of the Paulínia-São Paulo Oil Pipeline (Opasa 16), in São Paulo (SP). The project involved an investment of R$ 465 million and replaced 68 kilometers of pipelines connecting the Paulínia Refinery (Replan) to the Barueri Land Terminal. The new infrastructure enhances safety, operational efficiency, and incorporates technological advancements that can increase transport capacity by up to 60%.

This is the largest terrestrial pipeline engineering project undertaken in Brazil in the past decade. The entire project was managed by Transpetro's technical teams with support from Petrobras and was completed within 15 months.

"The inauguration of the new Opasa pipeline represents a milestone in Brazil's fuel transportation infrastructure. Over the past decade, there has been no similar construction of a terrestrial pipeline in the country, in terms of both length and technology. The new project replaced the original pipeline with a new structure equipped with advanced coating and thermal insulation technologies. This upgrade also allows for a potential 60% increase in the pipeline's capacity, from approximately 200 million liters per month for fuel oil transportation. This project completion marks the second phase of construction, following the replacement of 31 kilometers of Opasa 16 pipelines.

"Our teams were responsible for all phases of the project, from engineering design to construction and assembly. We operated 25 simultaneous work fronts across nine municipalities between Paulínia and Barueri, generating 670 direct jobs during the execution. This inauguration reinforces the company's objective to ensure greater reliability, operational availability, and more efficient transportation, particularly for Replan, the largest refinery in the country. Ensuring the safe and efficient transport of fuel oil produced at Replan also secures production and transportation levels for other derivatives essential to our economy, such as gasoline and diesel," emphasized Márcio Guimarães, Director of Pipelines and Terminals.
