The Diplomatic Mission of the United States in Brazil launches the 2017 edition of the Youth Ambassadors Program. For this commemorative edition, the Mission has prepared a special video telling the story of the program and how it has changed the lives of more than 460 Brazilian public school students over these years. The program allows participants to hone their skills in leadership, to experience a new culture, to interact with young Americans and seek opportunities for personal and professional growth. The Youth Ambassadors Program is not only an exchange program, but also empowers young people to show that they are capable of winning.

"Over 460 students have taken part in the Youth Ambassadors Program in the last 15 years! I love this program and I can hardly wait to meet the next participants! Come be part of this incredible experience, "says Ambassador Liliana Ayalde.

Youth Ambassadors Program:

The program is for 15-to-18-year-olds at public high schools who are examples in their communities through their leadership, academic excellence and knowledge of English. The program is funded by the US government and has the support of partners from the public and private sectors.

It was created by the US Embassy in Brazil and the first group traveled in 2003. From 2012 the program began to be reproduced in every country in the Americas. Since 2003, 467 young Brazilians have taken part in the program. The partners in this initiative are: the National Council of Education Departments (CONSED) and the State Education Departments, the network of Brazil-United States Bi-national Centers, and FedEx, Merck, Microsoft, Bradesco, IBM and Boeing Brasil.
