The ANP released today (2/2) on its portal the ANP's Monthly Bulletin on Oil and Natural Gas Production, with detailed data on national production for December 2020. This month's publication also includes a special insert with the consolidated data year 2020. The Bulletin can be accessed on the page https://www.gov.br/anp/pt-br/centrais-de-conteudo/publicacoes/boletins-anp/boletim-mensal-da-producao-de-petroleo-e-gas-natural.

This year, production registered records in both oil and natural gas production. Oil production increased 5.5% in relation to 2019, reaching an average of 2.94 MMbbl / d (million barrels per day), while natural gas grew 4.1% in relation to the previous year, with an average 127 MMm3 / d (million m3 per day).

National production in December 2020 was 3.525 MMboe / d (million barrels of oil equivalent per day), of which 2.726 MMbbl / d of oil and 127 MMm3 / d of natural gas. Oil production decreased 1% compared to the previous month and 12.2% compared to December 2019. In natural gas, there was an increase of 0.5% in relation to November and 7.8% in comparison with the same month of the previous year.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production in December was 2,431 MMboe / d, of which 1,921 MMbbl / d of oil and 81.1 MMm3 / d of natural gas. In total, there was an increase of 0.3% in relation to the previous month and of 8.4% in relation to December 2019. The production originated in 119 wells and corresponded to 69% of the national production.

Use of natural gas

In December, the use of natural gas was 97.6%. 57.7 MMm³ / day were made available to the market. Gas flaring in the month was 3 MMm³ / d, a reduction of 2.8% compared to the previous month and 17.1% compared to the same month in 2019.

Origin of production

In December, offshore fields produced 96.7% of oil and 81.5% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras were responsible for 93.7% of the oil and natural gas produced in Brazil. However, fields with Petrobras' exclusive participation produced 38.3% of the total.

Highlights

In December, the Tupi field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas, registering 929 MMbbl / d of oil and 42 MMm3 / d of natural gas.

The Petrobras 76 platform, producing in the Búzios field through four interconnected wells, produced 144.395 Mbbl / d of oil and was the facility with the highest oil production.

The Pole Arara installation, producing in the Arara field, through 32 wells connected to it, produced 6.815 MMm³ / d and was the installation with the highest production of natural gas.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of onshore producing wells: 1,045.

Tupi, in the Santos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 57.

Marginal accumulation fields

These fields produced 410.5 boe / d, 113.2 bbl / d of oil and 47.3 Mm³ / d of natural gas. The Iraí field, operated by Petroborn, was the largest producer, with 292.8 boe / d

Other information

In December 2020, 260 areas granted, three areas for consideration and five sharing, operated by 36 companies, were responsible for national production. Of these, 62 are maritime and 206 onshore, 10 of which are for area contracts containing marginal accumulations. Production took place in 6,489 wells, 499 of which were offshore and 5,990 onshore.

In that month, 34 fields remained with their respective production temporarily interrupted due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, being 17 seafarers and 17 onshore, and a total of 60 maritime installations remained with interrupted production. There was no change from the previous month.

The average API grade of oil extracted in Brazil was 28, with 2.8% of the production considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 91.3% average oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 5, 9% heavy oil (<22 API).

The mature onshore basins (fields / long-term tests in the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 93.8 Mboe / d, 74.8 thousand bbl / d of oil and 2.9 MMm³ / d of natural gas. Of this total, 74,800 boe / d were produced by Petrobras and 19,000 boe / d were produced by concessions not operated by Petrobras, of which: 12,023 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte, 6,133 boe / d in Bahia, 365 boe / d in Espírito Santo, 270 boe / d in Alagoas and 191 boe / d in Sergipe.
