While Petrobras does not increase its refining capacity, Brazil will continue importer of diesel and gasoline. The statement was given this morning by Aurélio Amaral, superintendent of Supply of Brazilian Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).
"The market has grown with encouraging the growth of new vehicle fleet. Presses This refining of the country and the need to buy fuel abroad to meet all the demand," he pointed out.
According to ANP, Brazil raised its diesel imports in 2013 at about 2.3 billion liters compared to 2012. 2013 were 9.919 million m³ in volume by product and by 2012 about 7.649 million m³. Diesel fuel now represents 49.2% of the country's consumption of carrier matrix is the most consumed fuel in Brazil. The increased supply of ethanol, with plants in the south-central favoring biofuel production reduced gasoline imports in 2013 to 1.1 billion liters.
According Florival Carvalho, director of the NPA, the country should stop importing diesel in two or three years with the operation of two trains of Northeast Refinery (Rnest), in Pernambuco.
